About this event
Ready for some active restoration work? Join us at Barnett Woods for a morning of hauling eastern redcedar logs and brush - and help open this limestone woodland back up to sunlight. It’s hands-on work with results you can see, and everyone is welcome to work at their own pace.
We’re hoping the afternoon schedule gives working folks a chance to take a Friday afternoon off and come support conservation efforts right here in their hometown.

*Important Arrival & Driving Information
Barnett Woods and Prairie Preserve is not yet open for general public access. As you approach the preserve, please be especially mindful of our neighbors, their pets and property, and the quiet rural setting as you travel along the narrow, one-lane public road.
For this volunteer event, SGI asks all participants to travel at no more than 15 mph along Gibbs Road , even where the posted speed limit is 25 mph.
Please watch carefully for oncoming vehicles and be prepared to stop. Portions of the road are too narrow for two vehicles to pass safely. Please remain entirely on the established roadway and do not pull onto the shoulder, roadside, or neighboring property to make room for another vehicle. If you encounter oncoming traffic where there is not room to pass safely, stop and allow time for the situation to be resolved safely.
Thank you for helping us travel safely and be good neighbors as we arrive and depart.
