EDUCATION NEWS

  • APSU’s Public Observatory Nights will offer free telescope viewings on four spring evenings at the Coleman Tractor APSU Farm Powered by Kubota, located at 1991 Pickens Road. The events are scheduled for Jan. 24 at 5:30 p.m., Feb. 21 at 5:45 p.m., Mar. 21 at 7:15 p.m. and Apr. 25 at 7:45 p.m., with tickets available on a first-come, first-served basis for 50 patrons.  ClarksvilleNow.com

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Twenty soldiers from the Army National Guard's 105th Personnel Company left Nashville on Jan. 8 for a year-long deployment and are at Fort Bliss for extra training before heading to Kuwait for Operation Spartan Shield.  Clarksville Online

  • Montgomery Central sophomore Avery Young was named to the 2A All-State cross country team by the Tennessee Sports Writers Association after finishing fifth at the state championships — he is the youngest selection on the team.  ClarksvilleNow.com
