- ➤ The United Way of South Central Tennessee, in partnership with MMC Pediatrics, will host the 7th Annual Storybook Breakfast featuring characters like Bluey — families can enjoy breakfast, creative crafts and story sessions that support the Imagination Library by providing free books to young children. - ➤ Jennifer Durand was named SRM Concrete Good Neighbor of the Day on Jan. 15 and received flowers from Jenny Harrison and family at Rion Flowers Coffee and Gifts (117 S. Academy Street). WGNS

- ➤ Verizon provided a $20 credit for customers affected by the Jan. 14 outage that left over 1.5 million users without service; impacted customers can claim the credit through the myVerizon app while business accounts will be contacted directly. The Leaf Chronicle

- ➤ Rock Castle State Historic Site is reopening this spring after a year and a half of renovations that added a new visitor center, museum space, and expanded event areas. - ➤ Dr. Stephen Kershner from Austin Peay State University earned the 2025 Award for Excellence in Teaching at the College Level during the AIA-SCS meeting held Jan. 7-10, recognizing his innovative classics education and mentorship that enrich local student experiences. ClarksvilleNow.com
- ➤ APSU launched Tennessee’s first Principal Registered Apprenticeship Program that offers an online accelerated master’s degree with full tuition scholarships and paid apprenticeships. - ➤ The Clarksville Police Department recognized K9 Joker’s retirement after his last duty day on Friday, Jan. 9. He was retired due to health concerns and adopted by Officer Goodman (a unanimous City Council decision), celebrating his faithful service since 2019. Main Street Clarksville
- ➤ Starting on July 31, Tennessee’s SNAP benefits will no longer cover soda and sugary processed foods after waivers were approved in mid-December 2025; the change will affect over 711,000 beneficiaries and aims to promote healthier eating. WSMV 4

- ➤ Will Hester was named head football coach at Blackman High on Jan. 15 and will lead the team full-time around mid-February while finishing his notice in Williamson County (replacing coach Matt Kriesky after a strong 12 to 2 season last year). The Leaf Chronicle
