APSU graduate Nicholas Herrud received a Fulbright grant that will allow him to spend nine months in Vilnius, Lithuania studying interwar borderlands and multinationalism.
He prepared by learning extra languages (Polish, Russian, and Ukrainian) and will engage with the local community through lectures and cultural activities.
Teams from across the state competed at F&M Bank Arena for the 2026 VEX V5 Robotics State Championship Friday and Saturday — earning a chance to advance to the world championship next month and showcasing middle and high school students' STEM skills.

APSU men's tennis secured its first home win — a 4-3 victory — over Indiana University-Indianapolis Saturday at the Governors Tennis Courts.
The Govs will face Cumberland next Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
Tennessee basketball's future in the NCAA Tournament is in question after the Vols lost three of their final four games and star freshman Nate Ament missed two games with an ankle injury.
Bracketologists project a No. 5 or No. 6 seed, and Selection Sunday at 6 p.m. ET will reveal the final seeding.
The APSU beach volleyball team finished its Stache Bash matches on Saturday with a 3-2 win over Wingate and a 5-0 loss to Chattanooga at the Atkins Family Beach Volleyball Facility.
The team will travel to Birmingham soon to compete in UAB’s March to May tournament.
Austin Peay State University athletics and POWCO completed renovations on the Governors softball indoor training facility in Clarksville, improving training operations and supporting year-round development — the project marks the start of an ongoing partnership.
APSU lacrosse lost 17-6 to Winthrop yesterday at Morgan Brothers Field.
The team will face Iona on Monday at 11:00 a.m. at the same venue.
APSU’s baseball team lost 9-8 to Bellarmine on Saturday at Knights Field in Louisville, where junior DJ Merriweather struck out 10 batters in relief; the Governors will face the Knights again Sunday at 12:00 p.m.
APSU softball split a Saturday doubleheader against Eastern Kentucky at Gertrude Hood Field & earned a 5-2 win with two home runs from Sammie Shelander and a 10-8 loss marked by a grand slam from Brie Howard.
