  • An aggressive fungus wiped out most of the strawberry crop at McCraw Strawberry Ranch (2385 Rossview Road) in Clarksville, leaving owners Billy and Teresa McCraw with a loss of about $6,000 in sales this year. The couple will shift their focus to growing tulips and other produce to continue serving their customers.  Main Street Clarksville

CRIME NEWS

  • On March 7 at 9:04 p.m., Clarksville Police responded to a Walgreens robbery when a 5-foot-11 Black man in a dark brown jacket, brown pants and a blue shirt entered the store, loaded a basket with items and threatened employees with what appeared to be a gun—detectives are reviewing video footage and ask anyone with information to come forward.  ClarksvilleNow.com
  • The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation issued a Silver Alert for 86-year-old Clarksville resident Garland Mazzei, who was last seen on Sunday in the Abby Lane area and may be driving a 2004 white GMC Envoy with TN tag BCW-3936—he has a medical condition that may make his safe return difficult.  WSMV 4

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Clarksville-Montgomery County Common Design Review Board rejected a mixed-use plan for The Joseph that would have redeveloped the 110-year-old Dunlop Mansion at 517 Madison Street into an art gallery—bar, showroom or recording studio, and on March 24 the board also denied a request by Immaculate Conception Catholic Church to demolish the historic Sullivan-Gill House at 631 Franklin Street. The decisions require the developer to apply for a National Register application before any permits can be issued.  Main Street Clarksville
  • The Clarksville Police Department has been accredited through CALEA since 2010 and now offers a public portal for residents to submit their comments on its performance and compliance with accreditation standards—submissions will be acknowledged without triggering an investigation.  Clarksville Online

  • The Austin Peay men's golf team beat Ohio by a score of (4.5-1.5) on Monday at Sweetens Cove Golf Course and will face Seton Hall today at 11:00 a.m. in the semifinals.  Clarksville Online
  • APSU baseball hosts Tennessee Tech in its first Tropical Tuesday game today at 6:00 p.m. at Joe Maynard Field at Raymond C. Hand Park.
