  • Weekend storms caused extensive flooding in the Oak Grove neighborhood off of Man O' War Drive—residents used boats to access homes as water entered garages and ruined belongings. Lowe's in nearby Hopkinsville is hosting a relief event today at 10 a.m.—providing free cleanup supplies until they run out.  NewsChannel 5

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Montgomery County's unemployment rate dropped to 3.6 percent in February—a 0.3 percentage point decrease from January—as the Tennessee Department of Labor reported that 84 counties recorded rates below 5 percent.  Clarksville Online

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Flood warnings for both the Cumberland and Red Rivers remain in effect until Tuesday as the Cumberland crested at 50.5 feet Sunday and began falling early Monday — water affected Riverside Drive and areas near the Red River. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers managed dam releases at Cheatham Dam — actions intended to protect local communities.  ClarksvilleNow.com
  • Flooding on April 6 in Clarksville and Montgomery County closed over 30 roads and forced emergency crews to evacuate dozens of residents. Officials said up to 4,500 residents lost access to their neighborhoods when floodwaters crested Sunday evening — a Red Cross shelter opened at the Crow Recreation Center and an evacuation center opened at Yaipak’s warehouse — after local authorities warned those in low-lying areas to prepare for rising waters.  WKRN

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Clarksville Gas and Water Department will replace a water valve on Tuesday, April 8th (8:00 a.m.), turning off water on Sanders Road and Henry Jerles Road and possibly causing low water pressure nearby. Water service is expected to be restored by around 3:00 p.m. (estimated) that day.  Clarksville Online
