GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • A new bill would make primaries the only way to vote in local elections, Senator Jack Johnson said the change would protect voters from a closed system—five counties that use caucuses would keep their method. The bill is set to change the process for most local elections while allowing some exceptions.  NewsChannel 5

  • The APSU women's tennis team lost a 4-3 match to Florida Gulf Coast Sunday at the FGCU Tennis Complex in Fort Myers — the team will face North Florida in the Atlantic Sun Conference Tournament on April 17th at 2:30 p.m.  Clarksville Online
  • APSU pitcher Lyndon Glidewell threw a no-hitter in seven innings and earned his fifth win as his team scored 20 runs on 23 hits for a 20-0 victory over North Alabama on Sunday at Patriot Park—he allowed only one walk on 87 pitches.  Clarksville Online
  • Garrett Spain first joined Clarksville High baseball team in 2015 as a freshman who was five-foot three and weighed 130 pounds and struggled with his swing—he later became an All-OVC outfielder at Austin Peay and was drafted in the 15th round by the Toronto Blue Jays.
