- ➤ Dr. John Manning, a 64-year-old from Ashland City, was sentenced last week after pleading guilty to conspiracy to commit healthcare fraud for signing more than $41 million in false Medicare claims between June 2016 and April 2019—he will serve three years in federal prison, pay over $19 million in restitution, and face a money judgment of more than $812,000. - ➤ On April 10, the Clarksville Montgomery County Education Association held its 40th Distinguished Educator Banquet at the Wilma Rudolph Event Center to honor teachers and other education workers from local schools — community leaders and local businesses also joined in recognizing the achievements of the honorees. - ➤ The IRS postponed Tax Day for Tennessee residents to November 3 due to severe storms, tornadoes, and flooding that began on April 2, giving both individuals and businesses extra time to file returns and make payments. FEMA declared all 95 counties eligible for disaster relief so local taxpayers can access extra help and penalty waivers—free tax assistance programs are available. WGNS

- ➤ The Montgomery County Commission approved a resolution on April 14 to provide $500,000 in emergency funds for flood damage repairs in the Farmington subdivision on Rossview Road after 10 inches of rain fell from April 3 to 6—nearly 20 homes were declared uninhabitable and funds will be distributed through YAIPAK to stabilize properties.
