  • The Steven A. Cohen Military Family Clinic at Centerstone will host its third annual Month of the Military Child Carnival on April 26th from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in its parking lot at 775 Weatherly Drive; the event will feature games, bounce houses, a dunk tank + magic shows and free food trucks + DIY carnival games to honor military children.  Main Street Clarksville

CULTURE NEWS

  • On Saturday, May 3rd from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. the first-ever Cinco de Mayo Market Fest will take place at Café 931 in Sango—featuring local vendors, live music, and authentic foods to honor the holiday. Organizers La Vo Latina and Café 931 plan to bring a festive celebration of culture and community that will offer families a special day out.  Clarksville Online
  • The APSU Center of Excellence for the Creative Arts will host Pixar director Domee Shi—who will discuss her work and artistic process—on Thursday, April 24th at 6:00 p.m. in the Morgan University Center Ballroom. A free screening of her films Turning Red and Bao will follow on Wednesday, April 23rd at 5:30 p.m. in the APSU Art and Design Room 113.  Clarksville Online

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Tennessee’s unemployment rate dropped to 3.6% in March, marking the first decline since May 2024, according to the state labor department. Employers added 8,700 jobs over the past year while some sectors lost 1,300 jobs between February and March — a sign that skilled workers remain in short supply.  Clarksville Online
  • Aspire, a community initiative, is powering progress in Clarksville-Montgomery County as major employers make investment announcements—Florim will expand its workforce to 400 by 2026 and Frito-Lay will add capacity for 50 local jobs. GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Councilperson Jerry Haywood proposed a 180-day pause on new construction and rezoning in Clarksville—aimed at sparking discussion on stormwater issues after recent floods. He withdrew the proposal before it reached the Finance Committee due to strong opposition from business leaders and developers worried about its economic impact.  ClarksvilleNow.com
  • Today, the Clarksville Gas and Water Department will replace a water valve on Lealand Drive and Lealand Court at 5:30 p.m.—residents may notice low water pressure during the work. The department expects to finish and restore water service by about 12:00 a.m. on April 23rd.  Clarksville Online

  • Rossview assistant coach Ashley Beck, a former All-State soccer star who set records at APSU, now teaches science at Northeast High and coaches both boys and girls soccer teams.
