EDUCATION NEWS

  • Pixar director Domee Shi, known for her work on Turning Red & Bao, will appear at Austin Peay State University as part of the new CECA Interdisciplinary Director’s Series, with a free film screening scheduled for today at 5:30 p.m. in the Art + Design Building. She will speak tomorrow at 6 p.m. in the Morgan University Center Ballroom and lead a private workshop for APSU students.  NewsChannel 5

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Clarksville Gas and Water will replace water valves on Trenton Road from Timberdale Drive to Marla Drive and on Hazelwood Road from Man O War Boulevard to Trenton Road today at 9:00 p.m., which may cause low water pressure. Water service is expected to resume around 2:00 a.m. Thursday — residents should plan accordingly.  Clarksville Online

  • Rossview soccer clinched its fourth regular-season district title in five years Tuesday night with a 3-1 win over Clarksville and scored 23 goals in its last four games—building a strong offense as it prepares for a seven-game win streak before the District 13-AAA tournament.  Main Street Clarksville
  • The Austin Peay State University baseball team will travel to West Lafayette on Tuesday at 5:00 p.m. CT to face the Purdue Boilermakers at Alexander Field — the Governors became the fastest team to reach 30 wins after sweeping Eastern Kentucky.  Clarksville Online
  • The No. 5-seeded Kirkwood Cobras upset the No. 4-seeded Kenwood Knights in a flag football district quarterfinal game on April 21, winning 26-6 with early touchdowns from Emma Goode, Angelina Marreo and Alyssa Shumpe. Head coach Nick Perchich said the team has grown — especially with improvements at quarterback — and they look ahead to their semifinal match with West Creek Coyotes next Monday.  ClarksvilleNow.com
  • Kirkwood beat Kenwood 26 to 6 on Monday in the first round of the girls flag football playoffs as quarterback Emma Goode threw two touchdown passes and scored a rushing touchdown, moving the Cobras to the city semifinals. Coach Nick Percich credited the team's improved defense for keeping Kenwood scoreless in the first half and said the Cobras will face West Creek next.  Main Street Clarksville
  • The APSU baseball team carried an eight-run lead in the first four innings & scored 13 runs to defeat Purdue 16-10 on Tuesday at Alexander Field. They will host North Alabama in an Atlantic Sun Conference rematch Friday at 6:00 p.m. CT at Joe Maynard Field.  Clarksville Online
  • Senior pitcher Jacob Weaver led the Govs to a win as he threw their second no-hitter on Friday night at Turkey Hughes Field at Earle Combs Stadium against the Eastern Kentucky Colonels—making them the first team to record two no-hitters in one season since 1970.  Main Street Clarksville
