CRIME NEWS

  • The ADL report shows that antisemitic incidents in the Southeast fell 14% in 2024, with Tennessee reporting 81 events and bomb threats dropping from 14 to one—while nationwide incidents rose 5%.  The Leaf Chronicle
  • A former Fort Campbell intelligence analyst received a seven-year prison sentence on Wednesday after pleading guilty to selling military secrets to someone he believed was with China—he accepted fourteen payments totaling about $42,000 for classified documents that put national security at risk.  ClarksvilleNow.com

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • On Wednesday evening, dozens of Woodstock residents met at Northeast Middle School to discuss flood concerns with Mayor Joe Pitts and city officials. They heard about plans for long-term flood mitigation and grant options that may take years, and residents expressed frustration over repeated flooding and local funding issues.  WSMV 4
  • Soldiers from the 101st Airborne Division conducted a live-fire drill at Fort Campbell using the new Next Generation Squad Weapon—testing the M7 rifle and M250 automatic rifle for range, reliability, and improved tactics. Military leaders said the exercise will help prepare troops for further training at the Joint Readiness Training Center.  Clarksville Online
  • TDOT urged drivers to slow down and move over in work zones during National Work Zone Awareness Week as part of its Work with Us—Move Over, Slow Down campaign aimed at keeping everyone safe. The agency noted that 16 people died in work zone crashes last year and that 35 incidents involving its equipment have been recorded this year.  Clarksville Online

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • Clarksville officials approved plans for a new mixed use development called The Joseph which will feature two buildings each with four stories connected by a bridge that preserves the view of the century-old Dunlop Mansion—residents will soon see a modern makeover downtown while keeping a link to their history. Councilmember Wanda Smith said the project will boost foot traffic and revenue, and construction is expected to begin soon.  WKRN
