APSU and the Customs House Museum + Cultural Center received a 2026 Award of Excellence from the Tennessee Association of Museums for a student-led walking tour project developed by Dr. Cate LiaBraaten in historic downtown.

The project, launched in Spring 2025, attracted 150 attendees and led to museum internships.

Customs House Museum and Cultural Center announced a May lineup featuring exhibits like Travelin’ Around and Layin’ It Down opening May 1, Celebrating Samoa opening May 4 with a cultural event on June 27, and a Tennessee Watercolor Biennial opening May 9 along with family and homeschool programs.

The CMCSS School Board awarded Point of Pride honors at its April meeting to students, teachers and staff for achievements in robotics, business, FCCLA, SkillsUSA, tech competitions and debate (recognizing winners from Richview Middle, Montgomery Central, Northeast and Rossview schools).

APSU baseball senior Gavin Alveti was named to the 2026 NCBWA Midseason Stopper of the Year Watch List; he posted a 2.88 ERA with six saves this season, and the watch list was announced Wednesday.
