  • New summer farmers markets will open in Clarksville and Montgomery County as the Downtown Market runs from May 10 to Oct. 4 on Saturdays from 8 a.m. to noon — offering fresh produce and local goods — while other markets in North Clarksville, Sango, Strawberry Alley and at Old Glory Distilling will feature local foods and crafts.  ClarksvilleNow.com
  • Appalachia Service Project in Clarksville will break ground next Tuesday on three new homes built mortgage-free for families affected by the December 2023 tornadoes. The nonprofit will also seek about 11 more families in need, plus volunteers, material donors, and licensed contractors to help with future builds.  WKRN

  • Theary Lim was found guilty of first-degree murder after a three-day trial—she was immediately sentenced to life in prison by Judge Robert Bateman—for killing her Army veteran husband after a Jan. 3 welfare check in Clarksville.  ClarksvilleNow.com

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Hopkinsville Community College is starting a 14 week industrial maintenance and mechatronics program at Fort Campbell—using new Amatrol training equipment bought with TVA Workforce Invest grant funds. Students will take six classes in technical math, electricity, equipment, and controls to earn two certificates and three industry recognized certifications while touring local factories and learning job skills under adjunct instructor Scott Moeller.  Clarksville Online

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Montgomery County Highway Department will soon start building a roundabout at the closed intersection of Rollow Lane and Dunlop Lane as part of flood mitigation work aimed at improving traffic safety — the project is scheduled from May through July with detour signage in place to guide drivers.  Main Street Clarksville

SPORTS NEWS

  • Montgomery Central girls flag football won the county championship yesterday with a 13 to 0 score and three interceptions while quarterback Audrey Levendusky threw two touchdown passes—securing their second straight county title.  Main Street Clarksville
