  • Meals on Wheels urgently needs more volunteers to prepare and deliver healthy meals to seniors who depend on daily visits for a check on their wellbeing. The service by Mid-Cumberland Human Resource Agency serves nearly 500 seniors Monday through Friday in Montgomery County — volunteers can help on flexible schedules.  ClarksvilleNow.com

  • Clarksville will get a new Keke’s Breakfast Café opening at Walker Farms near Publix on Trenton Road this month. The restaurant plans a grand opening on May 15 — it will serve freshly made breakfast, brunch and lunch dishes.  Main Street Clarksville

CULTURE NEWS

  • Artist Cynthia Thompson will unveil her large-scale installation Always the River at 7:00 p.m. on May 15th at F&M Bank Arena in downtown Clarksville. The hand-painted tension fabric sculpture, located at the First Street and Main Street entrance, is a tribute to local rivers and endangered species and will feature twenty animated digital avatars.  Clarksville Online

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Clarksville Academy launched the Distinguished Teaching Fellows program using a lead gift from Beth and Lawson Mabry to honor teachers with extra funds. On April 29th, 2025, the school held a ceremony to award Marla Clemments and Jill Sleigh—recognized for service and innovative teaching—by giving them an annual stipend to support their goals.  Clarksville Online

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Replant Clarksville is launching an initiative to restore the city’s tree canopy by starting with schools that need more trees and then adding native trees in new neighborhoods—an effort aimed at reducing flooding—and the group will host a launch party on May 12 with a goal to plant 3,300 trees in three years.  WKRN

  • The Clarksville Police Department will host its annual Law Enforcement Memorial Ceremony on May 16th at 10 a.m. — the event will take place outside the department headquarters at 135 Commerce Street to honor fallen officers and a service dog.  ClarksvilleNow.com

  • 15-year-old Janiya Johnson from Clarksville, a student at Kirkwood High School, won the 155-pound championship title at the High School Showcase in Las Vegas over the weekend—defeating top talent from across the nation.
