EDUCATION NEWS

  • Austin Peay State University will hold commencement ceremonies on May 9th at 9:00 a.m., 1:00 p.m., and 4:00 p.m. at the Dunn Center — the ceremonies will honor about 1,409 Spring graduates.  Clarksville Online
  • Clarksville Academy launched its Distinguished Teaching Fellows program in Fall 2024 with a generous lead gift from Beth and Lawson Mabry to honor outstanding educators.   • APSU alumna Susie Pace Perry and her brother Bobby Pace have established the Bob and Cecile Lacy Pace Endowed Scholarship to honor their late parents and support agriculture majors meeting a minimum 2.75 GPA and six credit hours.   • APSU track and field ended its season on Saturday at Vanderbilt Outdoor Track with several Governors reaching their best times in races like the 400-meter and 100-meter hurdles (including Taylin Segree, Alexis Arnett, and Neveah Schmeling). The team will now get ready for the Atlantic Sun Conference Championship from May 15th to 17th in Jacksonville.  Clarksville Online
  • Due to early weekend storms, district tournament games for baseball were rescheduled from Friday to Saturday 6:30 p.m. — Kirkwood will face Northeast while Rossview plays Clarksville High in the winner’s bracket. The softball tournament, originally set to start on Friday, has been postponed to Monday at Springfield High with Rossview set to face the Jackets and the Cobras scheduled to play the Wildcats.  ClarksvilleNow.com
