  • The family of Austin Peay player William Hardrick filed a wrongful death lawsuit against John McAdams after his fatal I-65 crash on May 6, and McAdams now faces charges for murder, leaving the scene and driving under the influence.  WSMV 4

  • AAA forecasts nearly 950,000 Tennesseans will travel at least 50 miles from home over Memorial Day weekend—84% will drive while airports expect a record 110,000 air passengers, adding pressure to rental and gas prices as summer travel begins.  Clarksville Online

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Austin Peay State University’s Criminal Justice department will use 30 Meta Quest 3 VR headsets starting in Fall to bring virtual courtrooms and crime scenes to class—students will engage in hands-on mock trials and simulated investigations.   • Today, the Tennessee Attorney General's Consumer Protection Division warned that phishing texts claiming unpaid toll road and EZ Pass balances are circulating—these scams cost Tennesseans over $190 million in 2024. SPORTS NEWS

  • Postseason play heats up in Clarksville as two softball teams face Region 7-4A elimination games today—winners will meet Wednesday for a regional championship and then play a sub-state game on Friday. Clarksville’s baseball squads will compete in best-of-three series from Wednesday to Friday while the soccer teams advance after Rossview High won the district title on May 8.  ClarksvilleNow.com
  • Senior Sam Leski led Austin Peay State University at the ASUN Championship Softball Tournament and made history as the first player from the program named to the ASUN All-Tournament Team — she recorded five hits and a .455 batting average during Governors’ wins against Jacksonville, Stetson and Florida Gulf Coast.  Clarksville Online
  • Harpeth defeated Cheatham County Central 2—1 last Thursday at Hockenberger field to win the district championship, with senior Ethan Gailey scoring both goals. Harpeth will host McKenzie today in the region tournament while Cheatham will travel to Huntingdon.  Main Street Clarksville
  • APSU men's golfer Patton Samuels shot an even-par 71 and tied for 19th on Monday at Atkins Golf Club during the Urbana Regional of the 2025 NCAA Men’s Golf Championship. He recorded 14 pars and will tee off at 10:23 a.m. in the second round plus he is paired with Clay Merchant and Adam Horn.  Clarksville Online
  • The NFL will release the Tennessee Titans’ 2025 schedule tomorrow at 7 p.m. and it includes home games against AFC South teams along with matchups with the Chiefs, Chargers, Rams, Seahawks, Patriots, and Saints as well as away games against teams like the Broncos, Raiders, Cardinals, 49ers, and Browns. The Titans, coming off a 3-14 season and with No. 1 pick Cam Ward, are predicted to win about 5.5 games — an outlook that suggests they hope to improve with a more forgiving slate.  The Leaf Chronicle
  • The Bill Hoy Kiwanis Rodeo will run from May 15th to 17th at Montgomery County 4-H Arena in Clarksville, where top PRCA cowboys will compete in eight rodeo events and deliver a mix of thrills and western fun. Visitors can buy tickets for $25 (adults) and $15 (children 2–12) while supporting charity efforts by the Kiwanis Club, so early arrival for bleacher seating is advised.  Clarksville Online
