  • Lightning struck Fieldstone Place Assisted Living off Martin Luther King Jr. Parkway in Clarksville Monday at 6:46 p.m. during storms — firefighters quickly extinguished the fire and evacuated residents safely with no injuries reported.  ClarksvilleNow.com

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Nissan announced it will cut about 15% of its global workforce—around 20,000 jobs—and reduce its auto plants from 17 to 10 by March 2028; the plan follows recent losses amid falling vehicle sales while it is unclear if the Tennessee plants in Smyrna and Decherd will be affected.  WSMV 4

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Austin Peay State University graduated 1,400 students on May 9 at the Dunn Center during its Spring 2025 commencement ceremonies held at 9 a.m., 1 p.m., and 4 p.m.—the class was 27% larger than last spring and many alumni have secured jobs or enrolled in graduate programs.  ClarksvilleNow.com

  • On May 8, 2025, Clarksville Academy held its annual Billy Frank Smith Memorial All-Sports Program at Procter Court to honor varsity athletes who earned MVPs and special awards. Senior Wyatt McQueen received the highest athletic award for excellence in sportsmanship and leadership—his recognition highlights the school’s commitment to athletic achievement.  Clarksville Online
  • The Nashville Kats will host the Corpus Christi Tritons at F&M Bank Arena on 101 Main St. in Clarksville on Saturday, June 14—featuring military-themed game elements and in-game recognitions to honor service members as doors open at 4 p.m. ahead of the 5 p.m. game.  ClarksvilleNow.com
  • Several Clarksville-area student athletes have qualified for the TSSAA track state championships, which will run from May 20 to 22 at Dean A. Hayes Stadium in Murfreesboro.
