- ➤ Smokin’ Hot Summer fundraiser will be held on Saturday, June 7th from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Up in Smoke Cigar Lounge on Hatcher Lane and will offer bourbon tastings, barbecue dinner, and cigar giveaways — contest and prize drawings included — to support Crisis 211, a nonprofit that helps provide emergency support to Clarksville residents. - ➤ Clarksville Parks & Recreation will host a Summer Kickoff Pool Party at Beachaven Pool on May 17 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event will feature a live DJ, poolside games, water rescue demonstrations, hands-on CPR training and food vendors, and guests must create a free CivicRec account to enter any city pool with $4 admission. - ➤ Big Brothers Big Sisters of Clarksville hosted its 42nd annual Bowl for Kids’ Sake at Pinnacle Family Entertainment Center on May 4th and May 9th—raising over $68,000 for one-to-one youth mentoring throughout Montgomery County. The funds will cover background checks, mentor training and match activities for about 250 local youth. Clarksville Online

- ➤ Today at noon, Tennessee opens applications for the new Education Freedom Scholarships that offer eligible students $7,295 to help pay for private school tuition and fees in the 2025-26 school year. The program has 20,000 awards available plus half are for any student while the other half are for families with incomes below guidelines where a family of four must earn less than $173,000, and families must apply separately for each student. - ➤ Clarksville is partnering with Mothers’ Milk Bank of Tennessee to open a Milk Drop Depot at Tennova’s NICU where approved donors can drop off frozen milk—sent to the Murfreesboro facility for pasteurizing and bottling—to help supply NICUs across the state. Local donor Liia Harmeling said the new depot makes donating easier for families in our community. ClarksvilleNow.com

- ➤ Clarksville Academy baseball swept a best-of-three series against Evangelical Christian to advance to its first state semifinal, with the Cougars (28-10) making key plays from center fielder Brennen Gibson and pitcher Evan Leonard. - ➤ On May 13, the Clarksville High Wildcats beat West Creek 2-0 in the region 7-3A semifinals with two goals from Carter Kalgren and a shutout by goalie Jacob Wiggins, which ended the Coyotes' season.
