GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Clarksville firefighters rallied on Madison Street yesterday to urge a pay raise as union president Jesse Snyder said low wages and increased call volumes are costing the department skilled members—current pay is about $44,000 a year while the new city budget only offers a 2.5% cost of living increase. This protest highlights the department's financial struggle in contrast to higher wages at nearby fire departments.  WSMV 4
