  • The City of Clarksville announced the return of the Mayor’s Summer Night Lights program, which offers free, themed activities for local youth every Tuesday from June 3 through July 29 at various parks from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Community partners will provide crafts, games, music, and a Teen Zone for ages 11–17 — no pre-registration is required — to ensure a safe, engaging experience.  ClarksvilleNow.com

  • The Clarksville Area Chamber of Commerce will host its Annual Dinner and Gala on June 2 at the Wilma Rudolph Event Center, a sold-out Women in Business event on June 3 at F&M Bank, a young professionals meeting with a State Capitol tour on June 4, and Business After Hours networking on June 26 at the Holiday Inn Northeast — these events will offer local members a chance to connect and celebrate achievements — according to the Chamber.  ClarksvilleNow.com

  • Austin Peay State University received a generous gift from Hankook Tire that established an Engineering Research Support Endowment to fund research supplies, equipment, and travel for faculty and students in engineering technology + engineering physics.  Clarksville Online

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Clarksville Gas and Water Department has rescheduled the Drane Street water outage from Monday, June 2 to Thursday, June 5—valve replacement work will start at 8:00 a.m. and finish by about 6:00 p.m., and residents may experience low water pressure during the work.  Clarksville Online
  • City of Clarksville employees Chris Bushart and Dan Walters saved a citizen’s life on Franklin Street on May 6 at 4 p.m. and were honored by Mayor Joe Pitts on May 29 — they received the Life Saver Certificate for their quick response — showing their bravery in a crisis.  ClarksvilleNow.com
  • The Clarksville Gas and Water Department will turn off water at 313 Dover Road on Tuesday, June 3rd at 6:00 p.m. for a meter replacement—motorists should expect low water pressure and an outer westbound lane closure between Stephanie Drive and Darlene Drive until water service and the lane resume by about 6:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 4th.  Clarksville Online

HEALTH NEWS

  • TriStar Health announced that it will apply for a Certificate of Need to build a full-service acute care hospital on Tiny Town Road in Clarksville. If approved, the $286 million project will cover 213,000 square feet, add more than 200 jobs, and boost healthcare services for the growing community (including 68 beds and specialized units).  WSMV 4

SPORTS NEWS

  • Liberty Creek junior pitcher Kaylor West was named MaxPreps Tennessee Player of the Year after posting a 19-1 record, 181 strikeouts, and a 1.15 ERA in 125 innings pitched.
