CRIME NEWS

  • A second suspect was arrested in Clarksville after a shootout near a Spring Hill home on June 6 grazed a sleeping 22‑month‑old baby—La’Taveious Lee—18 was charged with two counts of reckless endangerment after he and a 17‑year‑old exchanged fire during a failed drug deal.  WKRN
  • The Clarksville Police Department is asking for help finding runaway teen Dorian McMiller, 16, who was last seen on June 12th at his home on Friar Drive and who refused to reveal his location when contacted by his father on June 14th—he is described as 5'10" and 180 pounds with black hair and brown eyes, and anyone with information is urged to call 911.  Clarksville Online

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Aarionna Williams, a social work graduate from APSU, turned her tough childhood into a source of strength by helping children facing mental health issues during a 400-hour internship in Clarksville—she uses play to observe their trauma signs while planning to pursue an MSW and become a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. Williams also served as a peer leader and joined Delta Sigma Theta Sorority as she builds the community support that fuels her future goals of opening her own practice and writing a book on overcoming trauma.  Clarksville Online

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Before the June 12 meeting, Clarksville firefighters rallied outside City Hall to demand higher wages, a structured step pay plan and stronger recruitment since their starting pay is about $13,000 lower than in nearby cities—union leaders argued that fair pay is essential as the City Council voted on the budget on June 17 and will vote again on June 24.  The Leaf Chronicle
  • The Clarksville Gas and Water Department has turned off water on Stafford Street from Gracey Avenue to Greenwood Avenue for a water main leak repair, and low water pressure may affect nearby customers—service is expected to be restored by about 7:00 p.m.  Clarksville Online

  • Clarksville Christian School named Drake Reed — a former Northeast High standout and APSU hall of famer — as head coach for its boys basketball team.   • Nashville Kats team CEO Bobby DeVoursney announced Tuesday morning that the team will play all its AF1 playoff games at F&M Bank Arena in Clarksville.
