ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • On Saturday around 12:20 p.m. a vehicle and a motorcycle crashed at Hermitage Road on Fort Campbell Boulevard in Clarksville—crews worked to keep one southbound lane open as the motorcyclist was flown to a Nashville hospital and his condition remains unknown.  WSMV 4

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Mayor Joe Pitts announced that Clarksville was approved for FEMA Individual Assistance Disaster Relief funding on June 19th to help neighborhoods hit hard by April flooding — city council members and local leaders now urge affected residents to apply for aid as FEMA sets the next steps.  Clarksville Online
  • The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency withdrew its plan to raise hunting and fishing license fees after the Joint Government Operations Committee—committed to finding alternative wildlife conservation funding—offered lawmakers support, so current fees remain unchanged. A rule to increase boat registration fees will take effect July 1.  WKRN
  • The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency said it will keep hunting and fishing license fees at current rates because committee members promised to find other funding—so the planned 28% increase set for July 1 was withdrawn. The agency is also cutting costs by leaving many staff positions open while a 22% rise in boat registration fees will take effect on July 1.  WSMV 4

SPORTS NEWS

  • Austin Peay State University added four new staff to its sports performance department ahead of the academic year 2025 to 2026 (assistant coaches Austin Van Buskirk and Michael Fiorito and graduate assistants Alan Anderson and Austin Okruta). The changes follow the departure of six staff members (over the past 30 days) and focus on boosting support for student-athletes.  Clarksville Online
  • APSU's Deputy Director of Athletics, Chief Operating Officer and Senior Woman Administrator Niesha Campbell was selected as one of 22 administrators for the NCAA Pathway Program, a yearlong initiative to boost leadership skills in college sports. The program starts today in Indianapolis with a weeklong education session — participants will return in the fall and conclude in the summer at the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics conference in Las Vegas.  Clarksville Online
