GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Tennessee lawmakers rejected TWRA's request to raise hunting and fishing license fees to cover a $15 million gap caused by rising costs and declining license sales, and instead they plan to boost funding through a pre-existing sales tax. They also approved an increase in boat registration fees that will take effect July 1 — a move intended to help avoid cuts to services such as law enforcement.  WKRN
  • The Clarksville Gas and Water Department released its 2024 drinking water quality report in May, showing that the water met federal and state standards for safety and cleanliness. The report was mailed with the Summer 2025 edition of The Service Line and is available online or for pickup at several local offices — confirming that Clarksville’s water is reliable.  Clarksville Online
