CULTURE NEWS

  • On July 4th, the Daughters of the American Revolution and Sons of the American Revolution will host their annual Reading of the Declaration of Independence on the courthouse steps in Clarksville starting at 9:00 a.m. The program will feature a Color Guard, a Firing Party in costume, live music from Cumberland Winds, and a black powder shoot—followed by three cannon volleys and a full reading by reenactors from surrounding counties.  Clarksville Online

  • APSU alumnus Kevin and Linda Staton donated funds to create the Kevin and Linda Staton CSIT Endowment that will support full-time computer science and IT students meeting a 3.0 GPA — scholarship awards will vary under the Foundation's spending plan.  Clarksville Online
  • At an April 11 meeting, the Austin Peay State University Board of Trustees approved naming campus spaces—such as the Turner Family Event Center at 416 College Street and parts of the under-construction Health Professions Building—honoring local contributors like Jack and Margie Turner, the Clarksville-Montgomery County Community Health Foundation, Bill Wyatt, Curtis G. GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Clarksville Fire Rescue and the City of Clarksville urge residents to follow local fireworks rules as the Fourth of July nears, with temporary tents selling fireworks from June 20 to July 5 and fireworks allowed within city limits from July 1-5 between 6-10 p.m. City code bans fireworks in parks and restricts use by anyone under 16 without an adult, and state law requires keeping ignited items a safe distance from churches, hospitals, and schools.  ClarksvilleNow.com
  • The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency opened the application period for the 2025-26 Waterfowl WMA hunts, accepting entries from today through July 16 from current Tennessee residents, Lifetime Sportsman License holders + approved native Tennesseans. Successful applicants will be notified by email and must claim their permit by August 11, with any leftover permits drawn on August 21.  Clarksville Online
