  • Clarksville’s Downtown ArtWalk will take place Thursday, July 10th from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and will feature local artists at several downtown venues—setting the stage for a month-long display of diverse artworks.  Clarksville Online

EDUCATION NEWS

  • APSU students traveled roughly 1,800 miles in New Mexico this summer as part of their new study away program to experience Native American culture by visiting ancient cliff dwellings and sacred sites. Under the guidance of Dr. Tamara Smithers and Dr. Wes Atkinson, the 14 students engaged with local Indigenous artists and writers—gaining hands-on insight into traditional practices.  ClarksvilleNow.com
  • Austin Peay State University’s Summer Coding Camps teach kids coding through Roblox game design and Minecraft leadership challenges and have been growing over the past eight years. GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • On Tuesday, July 1, the Clarksville City Council approved 11 new liquor store certificates by lottery drawing after applicants passed background checks and zoning reviews. The decision raises the permitted total to 27 stores and sets new rules requiring locations to be at least 500 feet from schools, parks or religious institutions and 1,500 feet apart — a move that adjusts previous approval methods.  Main Street Clarksville

  • Three health care groups are competing to build a new hospital as Clarksville’s only facility—first started in 1954 as a government-run hospital, then renamed Gateway Medical Center before evolving into Tennova Healthcare-Clarksville after shifts by Triad, Community Health Systems, and Vanderbilt—faces criticism for low local patient satisfaction that has led many residents to seek care in Nashville.  ClarksvilleNow.com

  • Two talented figure skaters from Clarksville, Josie Perez (11) and Harlee Lambert (15), have qualified to compete at the 2025 Excel National Festival in Colorado Springs from July 9 to 13.
