  • Clarksville Police and United Way of the Greater Clarksville Region are partnering to host the 42nd Annual National Night Out on Tuesday, August 5th from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the APSU campus parking lot between the Dunn Center and Fortera Stadium — the free family-friendly event will feature over 56 vendors, school supply giveaways, bounce houses, free food, haircuts, live demonstrations, and health screenings by the Matthew Walker Comprehensive Health Center, inviting residents to build stronger community ties.  Clarksville Online
  • The 117th Lone Oak Picnic will be held Saturday, July 26th from 10:00am to 2:00pm at 275 Highway 13 in Cunningham and is hosted by the Central Civitan Club. Families and visitors will enjoy barbecue, picnic fare, bounce houses, a silent auction and live music by The Back Lot Pickers—continuing a century-old local tradition.  Clarksville Online

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Austin Peay State University raised a record $15,663,385 in the 2025 fiscal year from 6,970 gifts given by 2,762 donors — a 10.6% increase in donor numbers and a 16.2% rise in gifts boosted the total along with over $1.8 million in athletic sponsorships. The university plans to build on this achievement as it prepares for its centennial in 2027.  ClarksvilleNow.com
  • A donation from Atlanta residents Bill and Anne Newton established the James T. Mann, Sr. and Dorothy Newton Mann Family Endowment Scholarship at Austin Peay State University to honor longtime APSU community members Jim and Dottie Mann on their 80th birthdays. The scholarship supports talented students in performance fields—music, art, theatre and dance and recognizes the couple’s decades of service to APSU and Clarksville.  Clarksville Online

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Clarksville-Montgomery County School Board passed resolutions backing the hospital plans — one by Ascension St. Thomas and the other by TriStar — to expand local healthcare after a Tennessee Health Facilities Commission meeting on July 23. The proposals, which could add up to 450 new jobs, address rising community needs and aim to boost services for residents.  The Leaf Chronicle
  • Councilwoman McLaughlin said the new Restoring Clarksville Initiative launched in January will use a three-strikes system to fine repeat code violators fifty dollars per day and encourage property owners to fix or demolish deteriorated buildings.   • A Clarksville teen with Dandy-Walker Syndrome, who was not expected to live past age 2, is turning 16 and her family is raising $10,000 to train a service dog to alert them to her dangerous seizures — a step they hope will help keep her safe.  NewsChannel 5

  • APSU first-year head coach Evan Amstutz finalized the 2025 volleyball roster on Wednesday with nine new players from different states — they have played at both high school and college levels. The team will play an exhibition game on August 24 at 2:00 p.m. and host regular season matches on August 29 and 30 at Winfield Dunn Center.  Clarksville Online
