  • Austin Peay State University’s beach volleyball team earned its sixth-straight AVCA Team Academic Award by maintaining at least a 3.8 GPA during both the fall and spring semesters of the 2024–25 academic year—12 players made the dean’s list and four earned the Athletic Director’s Honor Roll.  Clarksville Online

  • State Farm tests show that car interiors reached over 145°F—sunlit surfaces hit over 195°F amid a dangerous heat wave, so car owners are advised to park in shade, use windshield sun protectors, and check tire pressure; experts also urge regular maintenance like waxing and fluid checks to protect vehicles.  WKRN

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Tennessee Department of Transportation started relensing snow plowable pavement markers on SR 13 on July 26 and began resurfacing and repair work on I‑24, I‑40, I‑65 and other routes in Montgomery, Davidson and Robertson counties. Motorists are urged to obey reduced speed limits and expect lane closures during nightly work from 8:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. as well as daytime maintenance that may change with the weather.  Clarksville Online
