Austin Peay State University’s Professional and Workforce Development Center will relaunch its American Sign Language course on Sept.
3 with Christina Walkenhorst as the new instructor. Classes run for 16 sessions from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays at APSU with a $149 fee for community members—designed to teach basic signing and Deaf culture.

The Clarksville Gas and Water Department closed Bagwell Road from Pavilion Way to Sango Road today for water main maintenance—causing low water pressure and possible outages while crews work.
Motorists should use detours on Sango Road and slow down until the road reopens by 3:30 p.m.

Undue Medical Debt has erased $142 million in bills for about 73,000 Tennesseans by sending surprise letters that need no application—major funds came from MacKenzie Scott along with donations from churches and individuals.
The nonprofit targets those with high debt-to-income ratios to ease the burden of medical bills.

APSU Athletics will host the fourth-annual Govs Fest on August 22nd from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Maynard Family Field at Fortera Stadium plus the event will offer family activities like face painting, climbing walls, autograph sessions, a marching band performance, food trucks, and free parking with exclusive ticket options for the upcoming football season.
West Creek High School football is entering its second season under head coach Michael Booker.
The Coyotes had a productive offseason after narrowly missing the playoffs last year + and will compete through November in the 2025-26 season with a focus on accountability and teamwork.
