  • Rescue teams are searching for a young girl who was last seen going under water near the metal bridge in Billy Dunlop Park at 1:26 p.m.—Clarksville Police, Fire Rescue, and Montgomery County EMS have responded and temporarily closed Billy Dunlop Park, Robert Clark Park, and the Blueway.  WSMV 4

  • APSU named Brenna Morse as its new executive director of environmental health, safety, and risk management today — she brings over 20 years of emergency management experience to guide campus-wide safety and compliance efforts.  Clarksville Online
  • Austin Peay State University held its annual faculty awards ceremony on August 11th at the George and Sharon Mabry Concert Hall, with President Mike Licari and Provost Mitch Cordova recognizing faculty for excellence in teaching, research, and community service—honoring standout educators with awards like the Socrates Award and the Chamber of Commerce Distinguished Faculty Award.  Clarksville Online

  • The Clarksville-Montgomery County Regional Planning Commission is hosting a workshop on Aug. 19 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Minglewood Elementary School—this event follows an April open house and lets residents question the draft Britton Springs Road Neighborhood Area Plan before it reaches the City Council for review.  ClarksvilleNow.com
  • Montgomery County Chief Engineer Nick Powell—who gave the update this month—provided details on six capital projects including Stokes Field, Fredonia Park, Rossview Road widening, Lafayette Road widening, and new library and animal control buildings at 435 Jordan Road. Stokes Field is 85% complete with a finish date of Aug. 29 while the library and animal control projects were completed on Aug. 17 and work on the remaining projects continues—plans to finish later this month—.  ClarksvilleNow.com

LIFESTYLE NEWS

  • Tennessee Free Hunting Day 2025 opens on Aug. 23—squirrels will be hunted without a license through March 15 with a limit of 10 per day after hunters complete an education course. An archery-only deer hunt runs from Aug. 22-24 on private lands and select wildlife areas, kicking off the deer velvet season.  The Leaf Chronicle
