ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Clarksville Police recovered the body of an 11-year-old girl from the Red River on Aug. 17 at around 2:42 p.m.—witnesses said she went underwater near a metal bridge in Billy Dunlop Park, marking the second drowning in months after a 12-year-old boy drowned in May.  The Leaf Chronicle

  • Austin Peay State University’s Govs Creative Arts Festival will be held at Downtown Commons on Saturday, Sept. 13 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.—the free event will have live music, dance, art activities and food from local vendors and is supported by a $21,500 Google Data Center Grant.  ClarksvilleNow.com
  • The annual PossumStock festival will be held on September 5th and 6th at Red River Canoe in Adams — featuring local bands and activities such as camping, kayaking, and food vendors — and it will celebrate our homegrown music scene.  Clarksville Online

HEALTH NEWS

  • Tennova’s plan to move its satellite hospital from the approved Trenton Road site to Exit 11 was denied by state regulators—state officials cited concerns over hospital proximity given new projects by TriStar and Ascension Saint Thomas.   • Community fans in Clarksville can vote for the preseason defensive player of the year in area football before noon on Aug. 22—candidates are chosen based on 2024 stats such as 71 tackles by Josiah Brown and 172 tackles by Keshawn Dixon as they head into the 2025 season.  The Leaf Chronicle
