  • Hands On powered by United Way of Greater Nashville has announced three volunteer opportunities in Clarksville — the Centerstone Life;Story 5k/10k Run/Walk for veteran and military suicide prevention on September 13 from 5:30 a.m. to 10 a.m., the Women of Clarksville 5th Annual Women’s Expo on September 20 from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m., and Alexis Goines 7th Annual Safety Fair & Trunk-Or-Treat on October 18 from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Volunteers will receive event shirts, meal vouchers and snacks while helping with set-up, directing guests and cleanup at each event.  ClarksvilleNow.com
  • The Montgomery County Prevention Coalition will host its 3rd Annual RecoveryFest on Oct 11 at McGregor Park – the free event runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and will include guest speakers, local vendors, live music, and family activities to support recovery efforts.  ClarksvilleNow.com

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Traffic remains heavy in Clarksville as wrecks have blocked Interstate 24 eastbound and caused major backups on Tiny Town Road. Tiny Town Road westbound was backed up from Peachers Mill Road to Needmore Road at 4:25 p.m.—while Interstate 24 still sees traffic building near Exit 4—just after Exit 1.  ClarksvilleNow.com

CRIME NEWS

  • Clarksville Police Department asks the public to help locate 32-year-old Alaisea Matavao, who was last seen in March on Main Street when she left with her boyfriend known as Macc—her roommate reported her missing on August 18 after receiving a text on April 13.  ClarksvilleNow.com
  • The Clarksville Police are urgently searching for 22-year-old Annwest Taybior, who was last seen on Aug. 19 at 10:03 a.m. on Strawberry Alley as her mother reported her missing on Aug. 21—anyone with information should call 911 immediately.  ClarksvilleNow.com
  • Clarksville Police are asking for help finding 22-year-old Annwest Taybior who was reported missing by her mother on August 21 and was last seen wearing a white sundress with black flowers on Strawberry Alley at about 10 a.m. on August 19.  NewsChannel 5

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Clarksville High released its 2025 Hall of Fame Class—the third in school history—and the honorees will be recognized before the season opener against Blackman, with former athletes and coaches highlighted for their contributions.  Main Street Clarksville

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Montgomery County will open the new North Branch Library and Animal Control Facility on September 13th at 435 Jordan Road in north Clarksville; the library will welcome visitors from 10:00am and the animal control facility will offer tours and pet meet-and-greets from 12:00pm. County officials and staff — along with community members — will celebrate this expansion as a new resource for public services.  Clarksville Online
