- ➤ The Road to 250 — a two-year celebration of America's Semiquincentennial — is launching its second year with free educational and entertaining presentations that offer Q&A sessions and refreshments. - ➤ APSU’s Board of Trustees approved the naming of three spaces in the new Health Professions Building on Aug. 21 in Clarksville—one space is a radiologic suite honoring the Thaxton-Edington family, one is a debriefing room named for Wade Hadley Rudolph, and one is a clinical simulation bed honoring Sandra K. Gilliam and JoAnn Workman Burchett. A ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held on Sept. 11 to open the building. ClarksvilleNow.com

- ➤ Lieutenant Gabriel Johnson graduated from Northwestern University’s School of Police Staff & Command during a 10‑week program held in Nashville from May 27th—August 8th; the Clarksville Police Department expects his training to boost department leadership. Clarksville Online

- ➤ The CDC has said that mosquitoes are the deadliest creatures because they spread diseases like West Nile, dengue, Zika, yellow fever, and malaria.
