CRIME NEWS

  • Clarksville Police charged 18 year old Elijah De Sean Wade with tampering with evidence in connection with the August 13 homicide behind Mizu Japanese Cuisine — he was booked into Montgomery County Jail yesterday with a $100,000 bond and the investigation remains active.  Clarksville Online
  • An 18-year-old from Clarksville was charged with evidence tampering with a $100,000 bond nearly two weeks after a shootout behind a Japanese restaurant on Wilma Rudolph Boulevard on Aug. 12—where two people died.  WKRN

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Austin Peay State University announced a free Science on Tap series for Fall held at Strawberry Alley Ale Works in downtown Clarksville. The series will have four events starting at 5:30 p.m. on the first Tuesday of each month—Sept. 2, Oct. 7, Nov. 4 and Dec. 2—that let community members hear simple talks from expert professors on topics like aliens, animals, grasslands and working with robots.  ClarksvilleNow.com

  • Clarksville City Clerk Lisa Canfield earned the Certified Municipal Clerk designation from the International Institute of Municipal Clerks after nearly four years of coursework and professional development—her achievement was praised by local officials including Mayor Joe Pitts for strengthening city service and efficiency.  Clarksville Online
  • The Clarksville Gas and Water Department turned off water on Autumn Bluff Court for a water valve repair that may cause low water pressure; service will be restored by about 2:30 p.m. today—residents should plan accordingly.  Clarksville Online
  • Clarksville Mayor Joe Pitts has named Christen Wilcox as the city’s next Chief Financial Officer and she will take over the Finance and Revenue Department when confirmed by the City Council on September 4th. Wilcox, who has served as Deputy CFO since November 2020, will replace former CFO Laurie Matta.  Clarksville Online
  • Vietnam War hero Kenneth David—who risked his life during a surprise enemy attack to protect injured soldiers in Vietnam—was inducted into the 101st's Medal of Honor Rotunda at Fort Campbell on Aug. 26.   • The Clarksville Wildcats girls soccer team beat Northeast High School 9–0 in a District 13-4A matchup on Tuesday—hat tricks from Aubrey Nelson and Sarah Mann powered the win.
