  • Loaves & Fishes will host the Night of Hope Masquerade Gala on Friday, Sept. 12 at 6 p.m. at the Wilma Rudolph Event Center — where Bishop Richard Woodson and Mayor Joe Pitts will speak as guests enjoy live music, dinner, a Bourbon Tasting and an auction that will support local food programs.  ClarksvilleNow.com

EDUCATION NEWS

  • APSU College of STEM announced a free Science on Tap series in Clarksville for fall—starting on September 2nd at Strawberry Alley Ale Works, where faculty will share topics from alien detection to animal care. Doors open at 5:00 p.m. for each event, and the series welcomes all ages for engaging talks.  Clarksville Online
  • Austin Peay State University’s Department of Psychological Science and Counseling graduated its inaugural class from Tennessee’s only accredited PsyD program—earning contingency accreditation in Fall 2024 and addressing the state’s mental health provider shortage. One of the first graduates, Tyler Tims, is a U.S. Army veteran who advanced his training with the department.  ClarksvilleNow.com

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Clarksville Gas and Water Department closed Union Hall Road from White Oak Road to Russell Drive for a water service line repair and warned residents that water outages and low pressure may occur. Traffic will be detoured to Needmore Road + Russell Drive, and the road is expected to reopen by 3:30 p.m. today.  Clarksville Online
  • City offices in Clarksville will close Monday, September 1 for Labor Day—public safety remains on duty and emergency services are available. Parks and recreation centers and transit will resume regular hours on Tuesday, September 2.  Clarksville Online
  • The Clarksville City Council is considering a rezoning case to allow a 200-acre mixed-use development behind Governor’s Square Mall—set to include an unnamed retail big box store and new restaurants—at a site next to I-24. The proposal, introduced at an Aug.26 regional planning meeting, will be considered at the council meeting on Sept.4 at 6 p.m. in the City Council Chambers.  Main Street Clarksville
  • The Clarksville Gas and Water Department closed South Second Street between West Washington Street and Union Street today for water main maintenance—traffic is detoured to West Washington Street and Union Street and the road is expected to reopen by 3:30 p.m.  Clarksville Online

  • Jenny Richardson, a Rossview alum and former volleyball standout, was named head coach after Linsie Fernlund stepped down in April and begins her first high school head coaching season—she also coaches club volleyball in Clarksville and aims to bring pride back to the Hawks by challenging the dominant Clarksville High teams.  Main Street Clarksville
  • On Friday, August 29, 2025, CPA rallied from a deficit when senior safety John Spears Wolters picked up a fumbled ball at the 1-yard line and ran 99 yards for a touchdown—this play helped flip the momentum and led to a 42—34 win over Pearl-Cohn. The game saw multiple turnovers and a series of key scoring drives that kept the contest close until CPA sealed the victory.  Main Street Clarksville
