CRIME NEWS

  • The Clarksville Police Department is asking the public for help finding 15-year-old Gabriella Lizama who was last seen at 12:55 a.m. on Sept. 2 at her Foxrun Lane residence—she is 5-foot-6 with black hair and brown eyes and anyone with information should call 911.  ClarksvilleNow.com

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Tennessee Department of Education released the TVAAS scores for 2024-25 this week and CMCSS earned a composite student growth score of 5 for the second year in a row—marking the first time in nearly a decade the district achieved the highest score consecutively while also raising literacy and numeracy growth scores. These results show strong performance across 17 schools and significant progress in middle school performance.  ClarksvilleNow.com
  • At today's CMCSS School Board meeting, awards were given to students, faculty, and staff for notable achievements including Mrs. Gaines earning third place at a national school transportation competition in Austin and Jillian Smart scoring a perfect ACT.   • Clarksville City Clerk Lisa Canfield earned the Certified Municipal Clerk award from the International Institute of Municipal Clerks after nearly four years of coursework and professional development.   • Clarksville Mayor Joe Pitts selected deputy CFO Christen Wilcox as the new Chief Financial Officer for the city—she will be confirmed by the City Council today after serving as interim CFO since former CFO Laura Matta's departure.   • Eligible Tennessee residents must register to vote by 11:59 p.m. Monday, Sept. 8 to cast their ballots in the Oct. 7 congressional special election primary to choose a replacement for Rep. Mark Green.   • Clarksville city leaders plan to convert abandoned properties into affordable housing by establishing a land bank to redevelop unsafe buildings — the City Council legislative committee will vote on a resolution on Wednesday to urge state lawmakers to allow the city to use this tool.  WSMV 4
