EDUCATION NEWS

  • Austin Peay State University announced a five-year partnership with Maury Regional Health that created two endowed funds of excellence for the Medical Laboratory Sciences and Nursing programs. The agreement will give students opportunities for clinical experience and improved training — efforts expected to support regional healthcare.  Clarksville Online

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • On September 12th, a large crowd gathered at Clarksville Country Club where candidate Matt Van Epps and Congressman Mark Green mingled with voters and answered questions on public service and local issues—highlighting support for improved local infrastructure and border security. Both political figures stressed the importance of shared values and effective leadership for the district.  Clarksville Online

SPORTS NEWS

  • Oliver Dunn hit a go-ahead grand slam in the bottom of the second to lead the Nashville Sounds to a 7-2 home win over the Gwinnett Stripers on Sunday at First Horizon Park. The team added homers by Raynel Delgado and key hits by Anthony Seigler — and they take Monday off before starting their final road series.  Clarksville Online
  • The APSU women’s golf team will defend its title at The Velvet hosted by Murray State at the Country Club of Paducah—teeing off at 8:30 a.m. today and playing again on September 16th as Atlantic Sun Conference teams compete. They won last year by 21 strokes and plan to build on that success in this tournament.  Clarksville Online
  • APSU Football dominated Morehead State 56—7 in its 2025 home opener at Fortera Stadium, recording 700 yards of offense and seven rushing touchdowns. The Governors improved to a 2—1 record and will face Abilene Christian on Sept 20 at 7:00 p.m.  Clarksville Online
  • The George Plaster Show is coming to ESPN Clarksville this week, airing Monday through Friday from 3-5 p.m. Plaster and his team will discuss local sports and take calls, and he is joined by co-hosts Kelly Holcomb and Billy Derrick — aiming to tap into the strong sports fan base in Clarksville.  ClarksvilleNow.com
  • The APSU volleyball team lost 3—0 to Air Force on Saturday at the SIUE Cougar Classic finale as the Govs were outscored in all three sets—25—22, 25—21, and 25—18. They will travel to Bowling Green for the Alyssa Cavanaugh Invitational on September 19—20.  Clarksville Online
