- ➤ CDE Lightband received a top-tier Aa2 credit rating from Moody’s Ratings for its upcoming bond issue, marking its 13th consecutive year with this rating. - ➤ Austin Peay State University opened its new Health Professions Building on Sept. 11 with a ribbon-cutting ceremony—attended by university leaders, elected officials, community partners and donors. The 114,600-square-foot facility now houses healthcare programs for nursing, radiologic technology, medical laboratory science and other fields while also offering community clinics for training and low-cost care. - ➤ APSU’s Institute for National Security and Military Studies will host Dr. Bruce Bechtol Jr. on October 1 for a student talk from 1:00—2:30 p.m. in the Morgan University Center Room 307—followed by an evening lecture at Old Glory Distilling Co with doors opening at 5:00 p.m. and complimentary food with a cash bar; his presentation will explain North Korea’s role in aiding Iran’s military development. - ➤ Early voting began on Sept. 17 for a special election to fill the vacant U.S. Congress seat left by Mark Green—nineteen candidates, including state representatives and a local businessman, are competing for the office with key issues like gun rights, taxes, and reproductive care. - ➤ Jonell’s Journey, a nonprofit that supports breast cancer patients, survivors and caregivers, will host its Pink and Black Gala on Saturday, Oct. 11 at the William O Beach Civic Center to raise funds for vital support services.
