  • Austin Peay State University will host award-winning artist Soulaf Abas for two free public events—she will discuss her exhibition New Beginnings on September 25th at 6:00 p.m. in the Sara and Mike Gotcher Theatre and give a gallery talk on September 26th at noon in The New Gallery—to highlight works created during her campus residency.  Clarksville Online

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Montgomery County Commission is seeking local applicants to fill the District 3 seat in the school system that will last until August 2026—candidates must submit their letter, resume, diploma, and voter registration by noon on October 29 and will speak for five minutes on November 3 before a vote on November 10 at 6:00 p.m. at the Historic Courthouse.  Clarksville Online

  • The fall foliage forecast says leaves in Clarksville will begin changing in a few weeks with moderate colors by late October and peak hues by early to mid-November—residents can enjoy these changes on local walks at the Greenway, hikes at Dunbar Cave State Park or drives along popular routes like Highway 149 and The Trace at Land Between the Lakes.  ClarksvilleNow.com

  • Montgomery County teen athlete Immanuel Gilmore came home after a serious spinal cord injury at a state wrestling tournament earlier this year.   • The Red River Spartans won 3-0 over the Cincinnati Cyclones on Saturday at F&M Bank Arena in Clarksville when Jett Jock scored the opening and a second goal while Greyson Betzold scored the final goal with help from teammates.   • On Friday at Governors Tennis Courts, the APSU women's tennis team earned one doubles win and three singles wins against Chattanooga during the APSU Fall Tournament.
