  • Tickets are on sale for the 29th Annual Best of Clarksville event that will take place on October 2nd from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Governor’s Square Mall where 3,000—4,000 residents will gather to shop, sample food, vote for local favorites, and support local charities with 100% of proceeds; advance tickets cost $10, gate admission is $15, and children 12 and under enter free.  Clarksville Online
  • Today, Manna Cafe Ministries marks its 15th year with a Business Before Hours event starting at 7:00 a.m.—Mayor Joe Pitts will unveil a street sign renaming a part of D Street as Kenny York Memorial Way to honor the founder known for his work with the homeless. Manna Cafe CEO Vicki York also announced a ten-day, 100-mile prayer walk that will cross Montgomery County to revive the Prove It movement.  Clarksville Online

  • Austin Peay State University’s Department of Music will host Clarinet Day on September 28 as a daylong event featuring masterclasses by Dr. Spencer Prewitt and Dr. Jeremy Reynolds. Local clarinet students will pay $20 for registration and attend a free 6:00 p.m. recital at Mabry Concert Hall—an event supported by the Center of Excellence for the Creative Arts.  Clarksville Online
  • Local artist Larry R. Richardson opened the 'Legacy of Wade Bourne' exhibit on September 20th at the Wade Bourne Nature Center — showcasing oil paintings and watercolor sketches that honor the late Clarksville outdoorsman; the exhibit remains open until November 8th.  Clarksville Online

  • In September, days grow shorter in Tennessee as sunrise in Clarksville shifts from 6:21 a.m. — 6:44 a.m. and sunset changes from 7:17 p.m. — 6:34 p.m., with less than 12 hours of daylight by month end as daylight saving time ends on Nov. 2.  The Leaf Chronicle

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Today Clarksville Mayor Joe Pitts and Police Chief Ty Burdine welcomed Alexis Maher to the police department—she is a certified officer from the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office who will complete an abbreviated Field Training Program before joining patrol shifts.  Clarksville Online
  • The Montgomery County Information Technology Department and Public Library announced that public Wi-Fi is expanding in RichEllen Park, Woodlawn Park, and Downtown Commons—part of a $100,000 Broadband Ready Communities Grant Program.   • The FDA recalled the Kirkland-brand ahi tuna sold at Costco in Tennessee and 32 other states after green onions tested positive for listeria monocytogenes — the product was packed on Sept. 18 and marked to expire Sept. 22 — and customers were advised to discard it and contact the store for refunds.  WKRN
  • Tennova Healthcare Clarksville earned 13 Zero Harm Awards from the Tennessee Hospital Association in 2024 for its efforts to prevent infections (resulting from improved nurse rounding and staff training).  The Leaf Chronicle
