CULTURE NEWS

  • The Artsville 2025 festival will take place on Saturday, October 4 at First Avenue and Strawberry Alley in downtown Clarksville, where the 'VILLE stage will feature returning acts such as Caleb Lake, Jay Ammo and Waxheart — along with local performers and family-friendly activities across the festival grounds.  Clarksville Online
  • Austin Peay State University’s Department of Theatre & Dance will present its New Musicals Project from Oct. 2-5 at the Sara and Mike Gotcher Theatre, showing two new short musicals. A pre-show reception will be held on Oct. 3 at 7 p.m. — marking CECA’s 40th anniversary and featuring work by APSU graduate J.J. Gibson and guest artist Kenneth L. Waters Jr.  ClarksvilleNow.com

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Austin Peay State University’s Institute for National Security and Military Studies will host Dr. Bruce E. Bechtol Jr.—a former Marine and expert on North Korea and Iran—for a student talk from 1–2:30 p.m. and a public lecture at Old Glory Distilling Co. with doors opening at 5 p.m. on Oct. 1.  ClarksvilleNow.com
  • TCAT Dickson will launch a truck driving program at its Clarksville campus on Monday, offering a course that lasts 222 hours or 7.4 weeks with options to finish early—providing classroom instruction, behind-the-wheel training, and CDL testing for various classes. Enrollment for the first class starts on October 6 and a second class will begin on November 3.  WSMV 4
  • The Clarksville-Montgomery County School System and Armored Trucking Academy of Clarksville have partnered to offer high school seniors free CDL-A training this school year so they can earn a commercial license before graduation — an information session is held on November 4 with applications due by November 7.  ClarksvilleNow.com

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Today, the Clarksville Gas and Water Department will perform water valve maintenance on Riverside Drive at 10:00 p.m.—utility crews will turn off water from Thomas Street to Dortch Street and at 681 Spring Street, and residents may experience low water pressure until service is restored by about 4:00 a.m. Friday.  Clarksville Online

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • More than 14 acres off Trenton Road in Clarksville will be rezoned from R-1 to a mixed-use zone to transform a rundown trailer park into a strip center plus multi-family units up to 123—city council approved the first reading and will discuss the proposal further at an executive session today at 4:30 p.m.  ClarksvilleNow.com

SPORTS NEWS

  • Austin Peay’s Govs Gaming esports team earned a tiebreaker win over Middle Tennessee State University in a four-match Tekken 8 competition at F2CON earlier this month—collecting a trophy and $2,500 for club improvements. Sophomore Anthony Collier led the final match in front of about 1,000 online viewers, and the prize money will help the team upgrade equipment and join more competitions in the future.  ClarksvilleNow.com
  • Rossview High senior safety Jordan Culp was named Player of the Week by Clarksville Now after he made two crucial interceptions—including a pick-six—in the Hawks' 47-29 win over West Creek.   • Clarksville High boys golf won the District 13-AA title Tuesday at Swan Lake Golf Course with a team score of 300 and Braeden Parker leading with a 2-under (69). They will compete on Sept. 29 in the Region 7-AA Tournament with Rossview against Dickson and Henry County.  Main Street Clarksville
  • The Rossview High Hawks swept the West Creek Coyotes 3–0 on Tuesday night to celebrate senior night—winning sets 25 to 16, 25 to 21 and 25 to 23.
