CULTURE NEWS

  • Montgomery County is hosting a range of fall events that celebrate the season with activities such as cemetery walking tours on Oct. 4 and 18, a Homecoming parade on Oct. 25, and family-friendly markets and pumpkin patches until Nov. 14—each event offering local food, art and entertainment. Residents can enjoy haunted hayrides, festivals at Liberty Park and Beachaven Vineyards, and themed celebrations across various Clarksville venues.  The Leaf Chronicle

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Fort Campbell Middle School opened its state-of-the-art campus in Fort Campbell, KY featuring adaptable classrooms and collaborative areas designed to support student growth and community connections—highlighting a new focus on hands-on learning for students, families, and the military community.  Clarksville Online
  • Estella Mayhue-Greer donated funds to create the Dr. Joe Greer Scholarship Endowment at APSU in honor of her husband—this scholarship benefits full-time juniors and seniors with a 2.5 GPA, giving preference to students from Shelby and Dyer counties and underserved populations.  Clarksville Online

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Clarksville Gas and Water Department announced water valve maintenance will occur Tuesday, September 30th from 9:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m., shutting off water on Syracuse Drive and nearby streets. Residents may experience low water pressure on connecting roads—this work is in preparation for upcoming valve replacement projects.  Clarksville Online

HEALTH NEWS

  • APSU nursing researchers say that childhood obesity, which now affects nearly one in five children, makes surgery care more challenging because dosing medications can be difficult for overweight kids. Their study calls for a full approach — combining better medication guidelines, community support, and improved care practices — to help children have safer procedures and healthier futures.  Clarksville Online
  • Hospitals in Middle Tennessee face a growing blood shortage that started during the COVID-19 pandemic + low participation by young donors. The Red Cross has introduced noninvasive testing and easier scheduling + efforts to boost donations as local drives become fewer.  WGNS

SPORTS NEWS

  • The Tennessee Titans lost 26—0 to the Houston Texans yesterday, dropping their record to 0—4 and extending their losing streak to 10 games. Coaches said the team worked hard in practice but could not turn that effort into wins on game day.  The Leaf Chronicle
  • APSU's volleyball team lost 3-0 to Central Arkansas on Sunday at the Prince Center and was outplayed in all three sets—APSU will host Eastern Kentucky on Friday at 6:00 p.m. as it looks to turn its season around.  Clarksville Online
  • The Nashville Kats announced they will play their 2026 home games in Clarksville at the F&M Bank Arena.
