  • APSU will host the 2025 Domino’s Run for Govs 5K and Valerie Hunter-Kelly Run/Walk for the Govs 1K at 8 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 11 at the Pace Alumni Center—registration opens at 7 a.m.—while Antonio Murgas, owner of Domino’s Pizza, has secured a three‐year title sponsorship to support APSU scholarships and community wellness.  ClarksvilleNow.com

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Dr. Temple Grandin will visit Austin Peay State University (APSU) on Oct. 30 for a book signing at 4 p.m. and a lecture titled 'Great Minds Are Not All the Same' at 6 p.m. in the Music/Mass Communication Building.   • Austin Peay State University’s Department of Engineering Technology earned full ABET accreditation for its mechatronics concentration—meeting employer and student needs after a five-year process that involved a 104-page report and a facility review.   • Austin Peay State University will host the Governors Circle Alumni Awards at 6 p.m. on Friday, October 24 at the Morgan University Center Ballroom (APSU Homecoming) to honor seven alumni for their achievements in healthcare, military service, financial services, and community leadership.   • A law firm is asking the U.S. Supreme Court to review a federal ruling that kept Tennessee judicial advisory meetings closed—policy set in 2022 after security concerns arose. The Liberty Justice Center will file a petition on behalf of Dan McCaleb after the Sixth Circuit dismissed their appeal on Sept 17, arguing that transparency in taxpayer-funded meetings is essential.  The Leaf Chronicle
  • The Tennessee Department of Transportation is holding public feedback sessions for the I-24 Choice Lanes project — the meetings let drivers share input to guide the planning process.  WSMV 4

SPORTS NEWS

  • The Nashville Kats are moving to Clarksville where they will host arena football games starting in 2026—Former Tennessee Titans coach Jeff Fisher made the announcement at F&M Bank Arena after strong local support and the launch of a season ticket campaign with $26 deposits.  Main Street Clarksville
  • Clarksville High's boys golf team won the Region 7-AA tournament with a score of 309 over Dickson, Henry, Kirkwood and Rossview — advancing to the Class AA state tournament. Braeden Parker led with a round of 73 as the Wildcats make their 29th state tournament appearance after finishing runner-up in 2023.  Main Street Clarksville
  • The Clarksville Christian Centurions hosted the South Haven Patriots on Monday night and swept the match 3-0 to claim the top seed in North District 2 for next week’s tournament.   • Voting for the Leaf-Chronicle’s top defensive player in the Clarksville area is open until Oct. 3 at 2 p.m.—candidates from various high schools have posted Week 5 statistics including tackles, sacks, interceptions, and touchdowns, and fans can choose from players such as Kamari Blair, Josiah Brown, Jordan Culp, Keshawn Dixon, Destin Jones, Cayson Rasch, Dawson Smith, Willie Wilson, and Dylon Zilliox.  The Leaf Chronicle
  • APSU football players Chris Parson and Kamari Maxwell were named United Athletic Conference weekly honorees—Parson earned Offensive Player of the Week after throwing three touchdowns in a 42-10 win over Utah Tech while Maxwell was recognized as Freshman of the Week for leading his team in receptions. Parson also ran for a career-high 82 yards and a touchdown, marking the Govs' first weekly honors since late September 2024.  Clarksville Online
