  • Reopening this month after more than two years, the Montgomery County Shooting Complex is set to test new safety features—such as a nine-bay steel reactive range, taller backstops, a remodeled pro shop, and new roofs—at a soft reopening on Saturday, Oct. 11. CULTURE NEWS

  • The 26th International Festival took place on Sunday at Immaculate Conception Church in Clarksville, offering food, music and games from many countries — the event featured 15 international food booths, live bands, a car show and community organizations with local business sponsors, drawing large crowds to the celebration. Admission was free and tickets were sold for select food and activity areas to support community efforts.  ClarksvilleNow.com

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Austin Peay State University will host Dr. Vladimir Trapara as a Fulbright Visiting Scholar from this October through May as he researches Serbia’s neutrality and teaches a cross-listed international diplomacy course—marking the university’s first Fulbright appointment since 1999—while engaging the local community through lectures and workshops.  Clarksville Online

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Special Primary election for the 7th Congressional District to fill Rep. Mark Green's vacant seat will be held on Oct. 7 from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m., and voters must bring a valid photo ID—such as a driver's license, passport, or other federally issued ID. Candidates from both parties are competing and frontrunners will face off on the December ballot.  The Leaf Chronicle

  • Ten pumpkin patches are open across Middle Tennessee this October, including Boyd’s Pumpkin Patch in Clarksville which has been welcoming families since Oct.2—offering pick-your-own pumpkins and a corn maze. SPORTS NEWS

  • APSU women’s golf team finished second at the Jackrabbit Invitational on Sunday at Falls at Grand Falls Casino and Golf Resort in Iowa — Jillian Breedlove led with a one-under 71 that moved her from a tie for seventh to third-place. The team will next compete at Arkansas State’s Lady Red Wolves Classic on October 13th and 14th in Jonesboro.  Clarksville Online
  • Battle Creek earned its first football region win on Friday night with a 40-16 victory over Montgomery Central, building a three-touchdown lead before halftime and finishing strong with key plays — coach Justin Burum praised the team’s determination.   • APSU soccer earned its first ASUN point with a 2-2 tie against Central Arkansas on Sunday as players Kasidy Schenk and Vivian Burke scored; the Govs set a season high with seven shots on goal plus Lauryn Berry making six saves. The team will face Central Arkansas again at home on Thursday at 6:00 p.m. CT at Morgan Brothers Field in Clarksville.  Clarksville Online
