- ➤ The Rocky Horror Show will open at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct 17 at the Roxy Regional Theatre—marking its 13th annual run with live rock music and audience participation for mature viewers. - ➤ APSU professor LeAnn Wills published a study that shows many rural school counselors work with heavy caseloads while also serving as the only mental health help in their communities. HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Mental Health America’s report (2024 data) showed that Tennessee had a high number of adults and young people suffering mental illness but low rates of care, with over 1.4 million adults affected and many facing cost barriers. State officials and local groups took steps (including relaunching a behavioral health scholarship and starting construction of new facilities in Murfreesboro and Inglewood) to address these challenges. - ➤ Local runners will take part in the second annual Clarksville Half Marathon, 5K, and 1-Mile Race on November 1 with the start and finish line set on Franklin Street near Public Square. The event, presented by Hankook Tire Manufacturing Tennessee and supported by local partners, offers five races with chip-timed courses and prize money awards — over 750 runners have registered.
