The Kiwanis Club of Clarksville hosted the Bee-lieve in Literacy: Adult Spelling Showdown at Customs House Museum’s Turner Auditorium, drawing hundreds to support Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library program in Montgomery County—raising more than $40,000 through team competition from local sponsors including Spring Creek Pediatric Dentistry. Moody's Analytics found that 21 states and Washington DC are in recession while 16 states including Texas, Florida and Pennsylvania are growing; Tennessee is on the edge of a recession and nearby states like Mississippi, Georgia and Virginia are already in decline.

Austin Peay State University teamed with Replant Clarksville to host the Fall Native Tree Sale to restore the local tree canopy—residents can order 1-gallon and 3-gallon native trees until November 3.

On Tuesday, Clarksville volleyball beat Kirkwood 3 to 0 in the Region 7-AAA championship game with set scores of 25 to 8, 25 to 9 and 25 to 11 to secure its fifth home sectional title and its eighth straight district championship with a win in straight sets.

Coach Glen Fox said the team’s strong chemistry has led to 32 straight set wins—setting up a clash with Houston in their seventh meeting in eight seasons as they chase a state tournament spot.
