- ➤ Austin Peay State University will honor four veterans inducted into the Governors Military Hall of Fame on November 7 at the Morgan University Center ballroom—this reception and dinner will recognize their military service and leadership within the APSU community. - ➤ Austin Peay State University announced it will cover MyCAA tuition costs for military spouses whose funding has been delayed due to the government shutdown—ensuring these students can continue their fall classes. - ➤ Replant Clarksville, a nonprofit modeled after Trees Atlanta, is planning to boost native tree cover by planting 300 trees at six local schools with support from businesses, government, nonprofits and citizens. The group noted that Clarksville’s current tree cover is 29.8% and it aims to plant 1,000 trees in 2026 and 2,000 in 2027—official plans are under final review— to help cool the urban heat island effect. - ➤ Today at 10:00 p.m., the Clarksville Gas and Water Department will shut off water on Emory Street and Clark Street for valve maintenance — workers will intermittently turn off service and low water pressure may affect nearby areas until work ends at 2:00 a.m. tomorrow, as the project prepares for a future valve replacement to be scheduled later. - ➤ Clarksville Transit System will host a Transit Center Relocation Community Open House on November 13 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the CDE Lightband Office — Lisenbee Conference Room, 2021 Wilma Rudolph Boulevard — where residents can learn about preliminary site plans and offer feedback on moving the current transit center from 200 Legion Street after nine years of study. - ➤ The Titans traded their nickelback Roger McCreary to the Los Angeles Rams on Monday in a deal that sent a sixth-round pick — for a conditional fifth-round pick — to the Rams.
