- ➤ On November 4, the Kiwanis Club of Clarksville held its 26th Annual Veterans Essay Contest at the William O. Beach Civic Center and named Kenwood Middle School student Adore Adams the grand prize winner for her essay on veteran James Adams’ 16 years of service — a story that shows how his courage inspires our community. - ➤ On November 10th, Clarksville leaders including Mayor Joe Pitts, State Sen. Bill Powers and Montgomery County Mayor Wes Golden toured Dunbar Cave to examine flood damage on ancient Native American charcoal drawings. Park officials from the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation and park management are studying the flood's impact to plan how to protect the historic art—research continues. - ➤ A tentative Senate agreement to reopen the federal government may soon restart SNAP benefits in Tennessee, though officials have not confirmed when payments will begin.
