- ➤ Clarksville Speedway is hosting its annual Drive Thru Christmas Light Show featuring over 3 million lights and displays. The show runs now through Dec. 30, on Fridays, Saturdays and holidays at 5:30-10 p.m. or Sunday-Thursday at 5:30-9 p.m. (Dec. 27-30: 5:30-8 p.m.), with admission starting at $33 per car load. - ➤ At the Dec. 4 City Council meeting, Councilman and Mayor Pro Tem Brian Zacharias recognized Kirkwood Middle School’s custodian Stephanie Prusynski and student Murphy Stanger for quickly saving a choking peer on Nov. 21—awarding them certificates from Mayor Pitts that honored their heroic actions. - ➤ Clarksville offers festive holiday fun with Christmas lights on the Cumberland Riverwalk at McGregor Park, seasonal shows at Roxy Regional Theatre, and a drive thru light display at the Speedway through early January. EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ APSU Class of 2025 broke its record by raising over $13,000 through its Graduating Class Gift Campaign in May, surpassing the previous record ($10,953.89) set in 2022 and joining 1,380 graduates in supporting student services and scholarships. Clarksville Online
- ➤ TCAT Dickson’s Clarksville campus held its fall commencement on Dec. 16 at Austin Peay State University, where President Laura Travis conferred 60 diplomas and certificates (guest speaker Dr. Rashidah Leverett urged graduates to meet local industry needs). Main Street Clarksville
- ➤ Sen. Bill Powers of Clarksville introduced a bill to create a computer-based system that helps teachers record early warning signs like bullying and mental health issues in students. The system will be used in Tennessee schools starting in January 2026 with mandatory training and annual state reports. WSMV 4
- ➤ APSU Middle College students Natalee Daniels and Jessica Sun were chosen to present literary research at the Sigma Tau Delta 2026 Convention in New Orleans, which provides full travel funding (and a $4,000 award), and their project shows how women use silence and words to shape identities. - ➤ The Clarksville-Montgomery County School System showed steady gains when the state report card was released Thursday, as over 70% of schools earned A or B and 90% received C or higher—no school got an F. ClarksvilleNow.com
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ Kirkwood High junior guard Montavious (Tay) Clardy was named Clarksville Now Player of the Week after averaging 13 points, 8.5 assists, 7 rebounds, and 3 steals during the week of Dec. 8.
