Here's your local news at a glance for Tuesday, the 24th of June.
Good morning, Clarksville.
Goines to Rise hosted its second annual 'Drive Out Disaster' Golf Scramble on June 10 at the Clarksville Country Club and raised $36,000 for the American Red Cross Tennessee River Chapter’s disaster relief fund—money that will support future disaster response efforts in 13 middle Tennessee counties.
The Quilts of Valor and the Daughters of the American Revolution held their annual veteran luncheon on June 13 at Madison Street United Methodist Church to honor veterans with patriotic quilts and certificates.
Ninety-one club members, veterans, families and friends gathered as veterans from the Navy, Army, Marine Corps, and Air Force were recognized (with quilts made by local volunteers).
Hopkinsville Community College honored 522 full- and part-time students on its spring Dean’s and President’s Lists for high grades and meeting course requirements—398 are Kentucky residents, 100 are Tennessee residents, and 26 are from outside the region.
Tennessee lawmakers rejected TWRA's request to raise hunting and fishing license fees to cover a $15 million gap caused by rising costs and declining license sales, and instead they plan to boost funding through a pre-existing sales tax.
They also approved an increase in boat registration fees that will take effect July 1 — a move intended to help avoid cuts to services such as law enforcement.
The Clarksville Gas and Water Department released its 2024 drinking water quality report in May, showing that the water met federal and state standards for safety and cleanliness.
The report was mailed with the Summer 2025 edition of The Service Line and is available online or for pickup at several local offices — confirming that Clarksville’s water is reliable.
