  • Second Harvest Food Bank announced that federal cuts will remove 30% of the food it receives, leading to a loss of about 400 million pounds of food in one year and over 300 million meals in Tennessee over the next decade. Nancy Keil said nearly 246,000 people rely on SNAP and that the cuts also affect federal food dollars for more than 6,600 local grocery stores & farmers’ markets.  WSMV 4

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A multi-vehicle crash has shut down I-24 westbound near mile marker 11 in Clarksville—local police and highway patrol are working to clear the scene with no injuries reported.  NewsChannel 5

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The City of Clarksville is offering help for eligible low-to-moderate-income homeowners to repair or replace HVAC systems during rising summer heat. Homeowners who meet income and tax requirements can apply on a first-come, first-served basis — the program aims to keep residents safe and comfortable.  Clarksville Online
  • TDOT has awarded Clarksville Transit System $3.2 million for two 35-foot hybrid buses and a transfer center at Exit 11 Park and Ride. The Clarksville Metropolitan Planning Organization will adopt funding amendments today at 11 a.m. at the Regional Planning Commission office—TDOT representatives are expected to attend.  ClarksvilleNow.com
